  • This little log is a reminder that when I don't get out in nature on a regular basis, my heart hurts. And reflecting on why I've felt so out of sorts recently (even given the circumstances), it shouldn't have been a surprise to realise that I haven't been on a proper walk in almost a month! So it's off to Abergavenny I go to set things right, with a bit of post-snow landscape and the sun in a fresh blue sky 🙂 The moody monochrome pics have been removed from my newsfeed, and the light & colour will return. (With maybe the odd dash of surreal weirdness...) I still have a dark side - the clock at 3am will tell you that - but I'm channelling faith, hope & love as much as I can because, right now, the alternative isn't sustainable. Walk pics to follow later...

  • I think I may have found my new artistic obsession... Dreams... reality... love... magic... chaos... If this isn't my life right now, I don't know what is... 🤯 I saw a production of this play back in the '90s (RSC in Stratford, I think), where the forest/fairy realm was lit by dozens (hundreds?) of fairy lights suspended from the ceiling... It was magical... Witness (pic 2) the bar where I am currently sitting... Coincidence?! No idea what will emerge from this (ha!) lightbulb moment, but I will have fun playing with it...

  • After a prolonged period of posting nature photos, this week I've been experimenting with a few different styles. However, the effect has been to make me feel rather discombobulated! In addition to the challenge of writing a daily haiku, and on top of all the emotional stuff I've been going through recently, I'm now feeling a bit overwhelmed, so am planning to take a bit of a break from posting: maybe a week, maybe two. I'm intending to keep up with my newsletter, though, and am hoping to send one out tomorrow. It will probably be a follow-up to last week's, and explore this topic of grief & artistic processes a bit further. You can sign up (and read previous posts) via the link in my bio.
  • All Hallows Eve / Samhain / New Moon potter round St Woolos cemetery and cathedral, remembering those who are no longer with us, what they did for us, and mulling on how we can best live to honour their memory. First bit of peace & calm I've had in over a month! Lit a candle for Mum, and communed with whatever spirits were passing - plus various squirrels, crows and pigeons (Mum always did love her birdlife). I think I may have found my new artistic obsession... Dreams... reality... love... magic... chaos... If this isn't my life right now, I don't know what is... 🤯 I saw a production of this play back in the '90s (RSC in Stratford, I think), where the forest/fairy realm was lit by dozens (hundreds?) of fairy lights suspended from the ceiling... All Hallows Eve / Samhain / New Moon potter round St Woolos cemetery and cathedral, remembering those who are no longer with us, what they did for us, and mulling on how we can best live to honour their memory. First bit of peace & calm I've had in over a month!
