Code of ethics for Tarot readings

The following will be shared with you when you book a reading. Payment and agreement to engage in a reading will be deemed to be acceptance of these terms & conditions.*

  • Readings will not ‘tell your fortune’. They are intended to help you gain insights into what is going on in your world (both inner and outer), so that you feel empowered to make positive choices and decisions about your future.
  • All readings are in confidence.**
  • I will not share your details with a third party.***
  • I offer a safe, inclusive space, where clients will be treated equally and with respect.
  • I will respond to your question(s) honestly and without judgement, encouraging you to ‘take the reins’ of your own life. Your choices guide the sessions, not mine. If you have any concerns about the way a reading is progressing, please raise these as early as possible so that we can address them together.
  • Readings are not a substitute for advice on legal, medical or financial issues, and I am not a certified mental health practitioner. If challenging topics arise during a reading, I may suggest that clients consult a qualified professional.
  • When a fee is due, the amount will be agreed upon and paid before the reading.
  • I will not knowingly give readings to clients under 18.
  • I will not knowingly give readings to anyone heavily under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • I cannot give readings about anyone other than the client.
  • I reserve the right to refuse a reading.
  • If I feel unable to complete a reading for any reason, I will explain this and withdraw or reschedule.
  • I am obliged to state that readings are for entertainment purposes only. I cannot take responsibility for the consequences of any actions you may choose to take after receiving a reading.
  • I belong to the ‘Tarot Association of British and International members’ (TABI) and abide by their Code of Ethics.

*These terms & conditions apply primarily to booked in-person readings. If you are seeking a reading at an open market/fair, an abridged version will be available. For email readings, not all conditions apply.

**Please be aware that if you are seeking a reading at an open market/fair or other public venue, privacy (and thus confidentiality) cannot be guaranteed. I do not recommend bringing an overly personal or sensitive question to such a reading; they are perhaps best used as ‘taster’ sessions.

***An exception applies if I consider there to be a risk of harm to yourself or another person, in which case I will feel bound to report this to the relevant authorities.
