Introduction
I have been reading my own Tarot cards for over five years, and will soon be offering this service to others on a professional basis. During the past year I have felt a significant shift in my intuitive abilities, and strongly believe this is my vocation. In my art practice I seek to unearth stories of the human and more-than-human worlds, acting as a conduit for our re-enchantment with the Earth; and I see my Tarot practice as pursuing similar aims – but by helping YOU tap into your own intuition, the better to unearth your own story.
Intellectual experience
Academically, I have an MA in English & Modern Languages from the University of Oxford, a Postgraduate Diploma in Librarianship from Aberystwyth University, and an MA (with Distinction) in Science Fiction & Fantasy from Anglia Ruskin University; I have also completed the intensive Artist Development Programme offered by Nimble Art School. I belong to the ‘Tarot Association of British and International members’ (TABI), having completed their beginners’ training course, and am also undertaking the ‘Tarot-On’ course offered by the Tarosophy Tarot Association. This brings me a high level of experience in both the creation and interpretation of stories in many forms, both verbal and visual; and I see Tarot as a fascinating way of tuning in to the imagery and symbolism that can help us navigate our own lives and create our own futures.
Emotional experience
With regard to my understanding of the human psyche or spirit, throughout my adult life I have encountered many emotional and mental challenges, and undergone multiple stretches of counselling and therapy. While I must stress that I myself am not a qualified mental health professional, my experience as a client of such services has equipped me with an appreciation of and sympathy towards (a) many of the questions that drive such exploration and (b) the approach taken by the practitioners to ensure the safeguarding, nurturing, and empowerment of their clients. Perhaps what I am now looking for is a means of ‘giving back’ to the world something of what I have taken from it in the past.
